Polypropylene Concrete Fibers

Polypropylene fibers have wide range of applications for strengthen & reinforce of concrete and cement /gypsum mixture. Any consumption of this type of fibers will increase the flexural, tensile, shear and abrasion resistance of concrete. Polypropylene fibers are produced with two cuts of 12 & 18mm for concrete consumptions and with length cut of 6mm for thin gypsum mortars. Polypropylene fibers have a wide range of applications in providing thin concrete walls because it is not common to use reinforced rebar in these parts. Therefore, polypropylene fibers play the role of reinforcing in these parts. Polypropylene fibers have low level of resistance have little resistance against fire, sunlight and oxygen, but when mixed with mortar and/or concrete, they would be changed into a maintenance over for minimizing any sensitivity against fire and other environmental effects. There is a wide range of applications for polypropylene fibers in industrial floor making and play a great role in reinforcement of concrete.

Consumption method:​​​​​​​

Polypropylene fibers could be added to concrete at any time.
Usually they should be mixed firstly with sands and then add water.
It is possible to mix polypropylene fibers with water and then add the water to dry mortar. Then it is necessary to mix continuously for 3-4 minutes for finding a harmonized and homogenous composition.
Also it is possible to pour gradually polypropylene fibers into mixer and continue to mix with speed round for ensuring about complete distribution of polypropylene fibers inside the concrete.
Note: Usually polypropylene fibers may reduce the slump. It is specifically when the volume of consumption is high and we have also more fiber length which may decrease workability of concrete accordingly.

Consumption rate​​​​​​​

There is a variety in consumption rate of polypropylene fibers according to the type of constructional elements. The average rate of consumption is 1-3 kg per cubic meter. For instance, the average consumption rate of polypropylene fibers in slabs is about 1kg in cubic meter. It may reach to 2-3kg in floors.
