Product Description

ZP2 is a high‑performance, cement‑based powder adhesive designed for installing ceramic, porcelain, mosaic, and natural or artificial stone on floors, walls, and other structural surfaces. It combines Portland cement, polymer resins, micronized mineral fillers, and dispersing agents to deliver exceptional bonding strength, flexibility, and moisture resistance.

Key Features

  • High Adhesion Strength: Combination of cement and polymer resins ensures a permanent, strong bond.
  • Moisture Resistance: Remains highly resistant to water once fully cured, ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, and humid areas.
  • Thermal Stability: Maintains adhesion under temperature changes for long‑term durability.
  • Vertical Surface Compatibility: Excellent for wall tiling due to strong initial grab.
  • Multi‑Surface Application: Suitable for floors, walls, and ceilings.
  • Wide Use: Applicable in both residential and commercial construction for tile and stone installations.

Mechanism of Action

  1. Cement: Reacts with water to form a solid matrix for structural stability.
  2. Copolymer Resins: Improve flexibility, water resistance, and adhesion.
  3. Micronized Fillers: Fill voids, increase mechanical interlock, and improve strength.
  4. Dispersing Agents: Aid mixing, extend open time, and provide smoother application.

Consumption

  • Average: 2.5 – 4 kg/m²
  • May vary based on tile size, surface roughness, and application technique.

Properties & Effects

  • Stable against vibration and minor substrate movement.
  • High compressive and tensile strength.
  • Eliminates the need for traditional tile bedding mortar.
  • Easy to mix with water, simple to apply.
  • Reduces structural load due to thinner bed layer.
  • Maintains adhesion in damp conditions.
  • Cost‑effective compared to many competing adhesives.

Applications

  • Mosaic installation.
  • Tile‑on‑tile applications (over existing glazed surfaces after proper preparation).
  • Polystyrene foam sheets attachment.
  • Suitable for concrete, cement, stone, and similar substrates.
  • Ideal for high‑traffic floors and wet areas (bathrooms, kitchens, etc.).
  • Indoor and outdoor use.

Safety Precautions

  • Not classified as hazardous, but avoid eye contact (rinse with plenty of water if contact occurs).
  • In case of skin irritation, seek medical advice.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (gloves, goggles).
  • Ensure availability of clean running water in large projects.
  • Follow manufacturer’s instructions for safe handling.

Storage

  • Shelf life: 12 months in original, unopened packaging.
  • Store in a dry, protected place at +10 °C to +30 °C.
  • Protect from frost, heat, moisture, and direct sunlight.

Standards

  • BS EN 12004
  • ASTM C482
  • National Standard of Iran — No. 6673984978

Application Instructions – ZP2 Powder Tile Adhesive

Surface Preparation

  • The surface must be clean, dry, stable, and free from dust, grease, loose particles, or any contamination.
  • Where contamination exists, clean the substrate using high‑pressure water jet or sandblasting.

Curing Time Before Tiling

  • Newly cement‑rendered surfaces must be cured for at least 7 days before application.

Mixing the Adhesive

  • Each 20 kg bag requires 5 to 6 liters of clean water.
  • Use a mechanical mixer (drill with paddle) to achieve a smooth, uniform paste.
  • Always add the powder to the water, not water to the powder, to ensure a homogeneous mixture.

Application & Installation

  1. Spread the adhesive paste onto the substrate using a notched trowel.
  2. Position tiles or ceramics on the surface and press firmly into place.
  3. For maximum adhesion, it is recommended to also apply a thin layer of adhesive to the back of the tiles (“back‑buttering”).

Working Time

  • Once mixed, the paste must be used within 35 minutes.
  • After spreading on the substrate, tiles must be positioned within 20 minutes.
