Grout Powder

بسته ۵ کیلویی

Grouting of tiles and ceramics is one of the essential stages in tiling. In addition to filling the gaps between tiles, it can play an important role in waterproofing and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the work. Nowadays, traditional methods such as slurry application have become obsolete, and new products have entered the market. One of these products is cement-based grout powder.

Grout and Joint Sealing Powder

Grout and joint sealing powder is made from cement-based compounds and includes organic chemicals, mineral powders, and copolymer resins that create a strong, uniform bond between tiles. In addition to grouting, this powder improves adhesion and impermeability against moisture. Depending on the site conditions and types of materials, ready-to-use grouting blends can enhance quality, increase durability and strength, improve aesthetics, and speed up application. By adding organic and mineral pigments, colored and aesthetically pleasing grout mortars can also be produced. This product can be applied to both horizontal and vertical surfaces.

Grout powder is one of the essential elements in construction and is produced in various types to suit different applications. A key feature is its ability to fill the gaps between tiles and ceramics, creating a waterproof joint.

As a modern material in tile and ceramic grouting, it contains polymers that improve the physical and chemical properties of the grout. Polymer grout powder offers greater durability and longevity than traditional grouts. Overall, using polymer grout powder in construction projects—especially in environments requiring high resistance to moisture and chemicals—is a highly effective option.

Mechanism of Action of Polymer Grout Powder

Polymer grout powder is composed of cement, micronized fillers with precise particle sizes, minerals, and powdered acrylic resins. Thanks to the fine particle size and powdered adhesives, it forms a homogeneous and stable mortar for tiling once mixed with water.

Its mechanism works by easily flowing into tile joints and thoroughly filling the gaps. The acrylic resins provide elasticity and flexibility, allowing the grout to withstand vibrations and minor structural movements. As a result, polymer grout powder ensures a strong, uniform bond between tiles while delivering optimal performance against environmental and structural stresses.

Consumption Rate of Polymer Grout Powder

Grout consumption varies based on joint width and tile dimensions:

  • For small tiles (15×15 cm) with 3 mm joint width → approx. 250 g/m²
  • For larger tiles (40×40 cm) with the same joint width → 150–200 g/m²

These values are approximate; always follow the manufacturer’s specific recommendations for best results.

Polymer Grout Powder – Application Method

For grouting newly installed tiles and ceramics:

Mortar preparation:

  • Mix each 20 kg bag of polymer grout powder with approximately 5–6 liters of water.
  • Stir thoroughly until a homogeneous and smooth mortar is obtained.

Application:

  • Spread the prepared mortar over the tile surface.
  • Using a trowel, press the mortar firmly into the joints between tiles to fill all gaps.

Cleaning:

  • Immediately after grouting, wipe the tile surface with a suitable absorbent cloth, ensuring the grout remains in the joints and the tile surfaces are clean.

For repairing old joints:

Surface preparation:

  • Remove the old grout from the joints with a trowel or a sharp object.
  • Clean loose, contaminated, or greasy areas using water pressure or a stiff brush.

Mortar preparation:

  • Mix polymer grout powder and water in the same ratio as above (5–6 liters per 20 kg bag).

Application:

  • Apply the prepared mortar into the joints using the same method described above.

Important notes:

  • Water ratio differs for floors and walls:
    • Horizontal / floor grouting: Use slightly more water to produce a slurry-like mix.
    • Vertical / wall grouting: Reduce water to create a stiffer paste suitable for filling joints without sagging.
